About Us
From the bazaars of
Bombay, to the foothills of the Himalaya, to the
deserts of Afghanistan, and from out-of-the-way
places around the world we gather merchandise that
is unique, unusual, exotic, handcrafted, and of
the highest quality. When you step inside our
doors at 2501 Davis Street in San Leandro,
California, you will be awed by the
65,000-square-feet of furniture, rugs,
architectural pieces, and one-of-a-kind treasures.

Company History
In 1979, Abdul
Ibrahimi first opened Silkroute International in
the heart of San Francisco as a retail store.
Because of lack of space, they moved to their new
location in San Leandro and expanded into
wholesale to accommodate all of the merchandise
from overseas they wanted to offer. |

Where Do We Find Our Items?
Several times a year Abdul and Ferozan Ibrahimi travel from
country to country exploring out-of-the-way places in search
of one-of-a-kind treasures. Our line of furniture, rugs,
accessories, and unique items come from Afghanistan, Africa,
India, Nepal, Pakistan, Tibet, or India. For our production
line, we have factories in Nepal, India, Afghanistan, and
Pakistan. When they are not overseas hand selecting items,
their team is set up for scouting and searching for items in
small towns and villages. The exclusive pieces that Silkroute
International holds come from vast regions of the world.
About Our Imports Quality
Silkroute International’s furniture is outstanding for its
quality and artisanship. The definition of quality is high
grade material, superior workmanship, and overall excellence.
What makes our furniture have quality is the method of how
each item is built. We have each item hand crafted and
perfectly fit for display. We use natural wood and strong
materials, and we spend lots of time designing and building
each item, which gives it our own exclusive look.
Our one-of-a-kind items have brilliant old-style look and
color. The age of the items range from thirty to over
one-hundred-plus years old. Each was designed and made for
palaces, mansions, and higher-end homes.
Our rugs are hand made with excellent wool or silk. Our
selections consist of mostly vegetable dyes, and all are
elaborately designed. We offer rugs ranging fro 2 X 3 – 20 X
40 to accommodate all your needs. Because of lack of
opportunities for women in those parts of the world, each rug
is made by women at home, and no child labor is used. These
rugs are made with lots of time, love, and care.
